St. Malachy School is seeking a middle school teacher.  This position will be teaching general science and one additional subject based on qualifications to 6th, 7th & 8th grade students. Candidate must have an appropriate teaching license or willingness to obtain. The instructor does not need to be a practicing Catholic but it is preferred. CYC 2018 dates are available on our website: stmcenter.com CYC is for students entering 3rd grade through high school graduation and is located in Panora, IA. Sponsorships are available!

Thank you to all of those who let their children donate to the door decorating contest. We raised over $200 that will be donated to Heifer International. The Civics Club will decide what they would like to donate.

November 15, 2018
Principal’s report:
 -Upcoming events:
 Noisy change collection to adopt a family for Christmas
 Christmas music program Dec 5
 Geography bee- Tuesday Nov 20th
Treasurer Report:
 -Current total is $20, 922. PTO also gives the school $9000 each year to be used.  Half will be given soon, and the other half in May.
Old Business:
 – Tshirt sales were extended.
New Business:
 -Vendor Fair – 35+ vendors signed up.  Santa will be present 11-1.  BBQ sandwiches will be available.
 -The PTo will sponsor a movie night.  The movie will be The Star. This will be held on Friday December 21 at 6:30.  The movie will be free with concessions available to purchase.
 -December 5th, PTO will organize cookie reception following Christmas concert.  A signup genius will be sent out.
 -Jan 27-Feb 1st is Catholic Schools week.  The teachers lunch will be Monday the 28th, the PTO will need parent volunteers to watch the students while the teachers enjoy lunch out.  A survey will be sent out on preference of breakfast served after church on the 27th.
Teachers sponsored Trivia night is Jan 19th.

4th Annual Door Decorating Contest!

A middle school fundraiser for the Heifer International Project

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4 , 2018 | 7:30-8:10

St. Malachy Civics Club is holding a door decorating contest, where students will be able to vote for doors,with a dollar, and all of the helpful donations will go to Heifer International.

Heifer International is a global, nonprofit organization that tries to eradicate poverty and hunger by sustainable farms. Heifer distributes animals, along with agricultural and values-based training, to families in need around the world as a means of providing self-sufficiency.

  • The Creston O-M Football team, Creston CAST class, and Creston FBLA are partnering to raise money for the Union County Veterans to participate in the Honor Flight program.

  • Each STM class will try to fill the jar with money.

  • Money can be placed in the jars from October 1st – October 5th

WINNERS:

  • The class at each level (ECC, elementary, middle school, high school

    and

    private school) with the most money collected will win a pizza party OR ice cream cake party, and the second place winners at each level will win a cookie party or cupcake party. Third place winners at each level will receive suckers.

Will You Read With Me?

Caring adult volunteers are needed to read with St. Malachy 1st graders on a weekly basis.

To participate in READS, you need:

A desire to read with 1st grade students.

A background check. 

A 50 minute training-available in October.

Afternoon reading times are available Monday through Friday. READS starts the week of November 5.
