Minutes of Regular Meeting
August 24, 2021

The Holy Spirit Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, August 24th, at 5:30 p.m. TJ led prayer.
Board present: Jenny Studer, Lora Pellman, Jon Moberg, Leslie Wurster, TJ Dunphy, Beth Knutstrom and Scott Wagner
Also present: Jennifer Simmons, Kim Coen, Fr. Adam, Janet Meisenheimer and Bailey Lawler.

The agenda was presented and approved with a motion from Scott Wagner and seconded by Lora Pellman.
The minutes from May 25th were presented and approved with a motion from Scott Wagner and seconded by Lora Pellman.

Visitors Comments – Nothing to Report

Teachers Report – Janet Meisenheimer, 2nd grade teacher was present and talked about the new math series.
Bailey Lawler, Kindergarten teacher was present and discussed how her kids have been focusing on how to act, sit and line up. When the students enter, she has a sign to find their name to use letter formation and then they get to trace their name.

Unfinished Business – Nothing to report.

Administrator’s Report
Jennifer Simmons, report submitted. The new math series has started. Envision for K-5 and Open Up Resources for 6-8. A leadership team was created over the summer and these team members will attend additional PD. They are very excited to grow STM academically. There have been some areas in the school with changes, secretary- Jenny Purdum. Amy Surma wrote some school schedules, Haley Simmons and Jacob Zachary prepared the technology. The Knights along with Levi Evans did some great work over the summer on the building.

Committee Reports-
Finance-June financials were present and discussed. Motion was made by Jon Moberg and seconded by Leslie Wurster to accept and close the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
-July financials were present and discussed.
Enrollment/Marketing-172 kids
Grant Reporting-Nothing to Report

New Business
Board Meeting Calendar-Change one date from November 23rd to November 16th.
Responsibility of a Board Member-Executive session discussions need to be kept to Executive session. When emails go out to Board need to make sure to put in subject line if it is Executive Session.
Math Teacher-For the 2022-2023 school year Jennifer would like to hire a full time Math teacher. They would teach 6,7,8, Algebra and do Math interventions.

Pastor Comments-Over the summer Fr. Adam has worked on a spreadsheet to help with budgeting purposes. The Re-Run expansion is almost complete. Work has been done on the church basement. The Diocese has completed a new school board policy book and should be available soon.

Motion was made by Jon Moberg, seconded by Beth Knutstrom to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:38 pm.
