Lent is a time of praying, fasting and almsgiving.

This week our teachers prepared their hearts for Lent.  Teachers wrote down words on an egg that spoke to them about servant leadership.

Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Congratulations to Marshall, Rylie and Keely for the participation at the Knights of Columbus Regional Competition.

Marshall and Keely each took second place in their division.  Rylie on the 13-year-old girl division and will be going on to State at Wells Fargo Arena!

A few 3rd grade students this week had the opportunity to read to the kindergarten class.  They did a very nice job.

Fat Tuesday Donuts:

4th grade students and Mrs. Sickels made fried donuts for the students and faculty this week.  They sure were yummy!

Today Mrs. Levine’s 1st grade students have our local officers a “Back the Blue” basket!  It was so exciting to have the officers in the room.  The students were speechless!

Congratulations to all of our musicians who performed or sang at the music contest this past weekend at Creston Middle School.  The students did an excellent job and represented St. Malachy well.  A big shout out to Haley Simmons and Jacob Zachary for receiving “Best in Center” awards!

You should have received an online sign-up from you child’s teacher.  If you did not please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Lane to get signed up.

All St. Malachy families should consider applying for CTO.  This is a great organization that helps families afford Catholic School Tuition.

This year CTO is asking that families apply online www.fairapp.com

  • The CTO has contracted with FAIR, Inc. to process the financial aid applications and provide an objective evaluation of each family’s financial need. FAIR is a nationally recognized leader in financial need evaluation services for Catholic and private schools.
  • Applications and instructions will be made available during Catholic Schools Week in late January through schools in the Diocese. There is a $27 fee per family for processing the application.  St. Malachy will pay the processing fee.  Please contact Kim Coen 641-782-7125 for a fee waiver code.
  • Applications for tuition assistance need to be completed online by the first Friday in April of each year for round 1. If there is still money available, applications will be accepted until July 31st.
  • Families who apply will be notified of their tuition assistance awards near the middle of August.
