A Big Congratulations to Haley Simmons!
She was 1 of 15 students selected in the state of Iowa to be on the STEM Youth Advisory Board.
The two functions of this STEM Youth Board are to:
*Provide youth perspective to the STEM Council for guiding policy and programs;
*Communicate to peers and communities the programs and policies of the STEM Council.
Terms will be two years each with the opportunity for renewal. The Board will be chaired by Kwizera Imani, an Aerospace Engineering undergraduate at Iowa State University and member of the STEM Council.
Wednesday Mass will be hosted by 3rd Grade
A donut and coffee reception will follow immediately after Mass 3rd grade parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend.

* ILLNESS
In the event a child becomes ill at school, he/she will be cared for to the best of our ability until the parent/guardian can be contacted. No child will be sent home alone when ill unless the parent is contacted and gives such approval.
Returning to school after an illness: The Center for Disease Control recommends that people with influenza – like illness remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100 F), diarrhea, vomiting, severe cough/cold, or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications (Tylenol, etc.)
All St. Malachy families should consider applying for CTO. This is a great organization that helps families afford Catholic School Tuition.
This year CTO is asking that families apply online www.fairapp.com
- The CTO has contracted with FAIR, Inc. to process the financial aid applications and provide an objective evaluation of each family’s financial need. FAIR is a nationally recognized leader in financial need evaluation services for Catholic and private schools.
- Applications and instructions will be made available during Catholic Schools Week in late January through schools in the Diocese. There is a $27 fee per family for processing the application. St. Malachy will pay the processing fee. Please contact Kim Coen 641-782-7125 for a fee waiver code.
- Applications for tuition assistance need to be completed online by the first Friday in April of each year for round 1. If there is still money available, applications will be accepted until July 31st.
- Families who apply will be notified of their tuition assistance awards near the middle of August.
